Going To The Bassmaster Classic

Taking a resent poll of the 3 Big Bite Pros that are making their way to the 2010 Bassmaster Classic at Lay Lake in a few week; they all agree on one thing; weather is going to be the factor that will determine what the fish will do. Talking with each they all have a different approach of how they are getting ready for the Classic, and how they will fish it.

Russ Lane – Is a home state favorite going back to fish his second Classic on Lay Lake. He has been spending time getting his boat in order, and keeping a close eye on the weather. If the weather stays cool like it has been; Russ predicts the fish will be in the 8ft to 12ft range. He says “if we get a few warm days during the Classic you will see some fish movements towards the shallows” making him turn his attention towards largemouth. His favorite bait heading into the Classic is a Big Bite Fighting Frog.

Jeff Kriet – Thinks he is in the driver’s seat as he says “this Classic is setting up to be one where I can fish my strengths”. Jeff has been fishing local waters at home to get a feel for what the fish are doing. In between trips to the water he has been spending time getting his boat, and all his tackle in order. Jeff feels this tournament will be won deep his motto “fish for one bite at a time”. Jeff will be leaning heavily on his own signature bait the Big Bite Squirrel Tail rigged on a Jewel Shaky Head Jig.  He also will be depending on a drop shot presentation as well.

Dean Rojas - Dean will have to dig deep into his bag of tricks to be able to put out a win at this year’s classic. Dean says “weather will play a huge factor in how this classic will fish”.  Dean hopes for warmer weather to get the fish shallower and help start a pre spawn bite. He has been spending the last few weeks getting his boat stocked with baits he thinks will pay dividends and says “he will be depending on two of his own signature Big Bite Baits the Cane Stick and the Fighting Frog” to bring bass to the Classic stage.
