Pro News - Lane Makes Post Season

Russ Lane Makes It To The Elite Post Season

With the Elite regular season done a few things have become clear so far this season.  All 3 of the Big Bite Pros have given us some real thrills throughout the year and it all started with the Classic in Alabama.  Jeff Kriet was leading going into the last day with Russ Lane right behind him in the Top 5.  Although KVD won, we can't begin to say just how proud we are of our Pros.  Jeff Kriet caught an impressive 46 pounds and 6 ounces landing him in 2nd place in what had to be the toughest weather conditions ever for a tournament on Lay Lake.  Russ Lane finished in 4th place and had the big bass at 6-2.

Then we jumped right into the Elite season, and through the regular season our 3 Elite Pros have performed at a classic level.  Here’s just a few of the highlights we have seen so far:

Russ Lane big fish at 8-8 lb at Duel in the Delta

Dean Rojas finished 3rd at Smith Mountain

Russ Lane finished 5th at Guntersville

Jeff Kriet 1st day lead at Clarks Hill

It all came down to the final Elite stop at Fort Gibson where all 3 of the Big Bite Pros had a shot to make the post season and the 2011 Classic in New Orleans.  Russ Lane did what he needed to do day one catching a big bag to move up in the point standings and make a serious run at the post season. Despite only one day of practice due to the tournament move from the flooded Arkansas River, Russ brought 5 bass to the scales that weighted 19-10lbs and was in second place just 1 ounce behind Tommy Biffle.  Russ would go on to finish in 8th place,  which moved him into a tie with Aaron Martens for 11th in the Angler of the Year points race securing a spot in the post season and the Classic.   As for Jeff and Dean they did not make the post season, but have both earned berths in the 2011 Classic in New Orleans.

The Elite post season starts July 24-25, at Lake Jordan , and moves to the Alabama River July 30-31.  These are home waters for Russ which should give him some advantage.  From all of us at Big Bite we want to thank our Elite Pros for all the regular season thrills that you have supplied, and to Russ we all want to wish you the best of luck heading into the post season and the AOY race!!!!  We can’t wait to see that Big Bite Jag on Lake Jordan.  Russ show them what Sweet Home Alabama Means!!!!

Keep tuned in here as we will be with Russ every step of the way through the post season.
