Big
Bite 2011
Classic
Pro News
This
year’s Bassmaster
Classic is in New Orleans
on the Mississippi River
Delta area and all 3 of
Big Bites Pros have made
it to the Big Show again. I
got a chance to sit down
and ask them what it was
going to take to win the
Classic this year. Let’s
see what the Big Bite
Pro’s have to say about
what they think the bass
will be doing and what it
will take to win the
Classic.
Jeff Kriet
Jeff
was runner up to Kevin Van
Dam at last year’s
Classic on Lay Lake so he
is hoping for another top
finish in this year’s
Classic as well. Jeff
has been watching the
weather close over the
last month and thinks that
with the cold weather they
have been having in the
Southeastern part of the
country that the bass will
be in pre spawning mode
when the guys hit the
water for practice.
Jeff is thinking the bass
will still be sitting in
deeper water waiting for
the water to warm. If
they get a few days of
warm, sunny skies during
the Classic you may start
to see some of the bass
get active and start to
make a move towards the
shallows.
Jeff says “that he
thinks it will take 17lb a
day to win and that the
bite will be on soft
plastics. He also believes
that the tournament will
not be won alone with a
flipping stick only, the
winner will have to fish
in deeper water also”.
Russ Lane
Russ
also came away from last
year’s Classic in a big
way by taking 4th
place and is hoping the
post season momentum that
he gained last year will
carry him to a win at this
year’s Classic. Russ
feels like Jeff with the
colder weather that the
Southeast has been getting
that the bass will be off
of the bank and sitting in
the lakes and cannels in
pre spawn mode.
He feels the guy that is
going to win this year’s
Classic will have a few
areas and a couple schools
of bass to themselves. He
is predicting that the
tournament will be won in
6ft of water and less.
It
will be a safe bet that
Russ will have his new
signature bait a Big Bite
“YoDaddy” tied on a
few rods and ready to go
at this year’s Classic.
Dean Rojas
Is
coming off of an 8th
place finish on the first
stop of the FLW Tour at
Okeechobee a few weeks ago
and will be seeing if he
can’t be the one holding
the Classic trophy high
above his head when this
year’s tournament comes
to an end.
Dean is naturally a
shallow water fisherman so
this Classic sets up well
for him and you can bet he
will be looking for
opportunities to be
throwing a Big Bite Cane
Thumper or Cane Stick
around a few Mississippi
Delta bass. It
is also a pretty safe
hunch that he will also
have tied on his newest
signature bait that Big
Bite will announce at this
year’s Classic.
To get your first look at
this new bait come back to
the Big Bite web page on
Thursday February, 17. Just
a little clue Dean used
this bait to help him take
his 8th place
finish on Okeechobee 2
weeks ago.
From all of us here at Big
Bite we wish all our
Pro’s the best of luck
in the 2011 Classic and
look forward to a great
year on the Bassmaster
Elite Circuit!!!
